Safety containers designed for the transport of infectious material (SARS-CoV-2)

As a result of the pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, there was a need to make safe transporters of infectious material that can prevent the spread of the virus. Therefore, together with the University of Szczecin and in consultation with Gdansk University of Technology, we made the necessary item using injection molding technology. One of the most important feature of the designed container was to prevent degradation of the tested material while ensuring the safety of the person transporting it.

According to the required specifications, hexasagonal containers and caps were made of polypropylene (PP) and gaskets of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) in three colors that allow proper description and differentiation of test materials. Between the outer walls of the element and the sample opening there is a chamber filled with absorbent and coolant, thanks to which the proper temperature of the sample is maintained during transport. This chamber is closed with a seal, which is color-matched to the other elements. The containers are also equipped with a special adapter suitable for transporting smaller samples.

The hexagonal shape of the containers makes it easy to open them and pull out samples with test material. In addition, the shape influences the safe arrangement of the containers during transport.

We share with you what we specialize in and that is injection molding technology!
