Choosing the filament for 3D FDM printing

The wide range of available FDM 3D printing filaments makes it possible to match the right material to realize prototypes or finished plastic products. However, this is not an easy task. Conducting an analysis in terms of the conditions of use of a given model and determining the requirements it must meet are put together to select a material that meets these requirements.

Some of the most commonly chosen filaments are: ABS, ASA, PLA, PETG. Each of them is different in its own way and has its own advantages and disadvantages, which is why, depending on a particular customer's idea, we realize 3D printing by considering each case individually.

In the photos we show the project "Dog Phone Holder" serving as a phone stand, which was then smoothed and painted. The prints were realized from filaments: ABS, PLA, ASA, PETG, giving the opportunity to test prototypes and choose the most suitable material to meet the specific requirements of our client.

After considering all the pros and cons of each statue with the client, the final product was made with PETG filament!
